MS TCDC Newsletter
12th February 2007
Welcome to the first issue of MS TCDCs quarterly newsletter this year 2007.
What to expect in 2007
The year 2007 marks the second year of implementing our programme and business strategy. Four new courses will be offered in 2007, that is, Project Planning and Management, Basic Finance for non-finance practitioners, Public-Private partnership Skills and Participatory Forest Management. The centre will also align its course portfolio to be offered in 2008, to the overall MS democracy focus. Two special programmes, one on Democracy as a way of life and the other on PFM & Enterprises will also be initiated provided we secure funding from Ford foundation.
A new marketing strategy will be launched with the aim of reaching out to more organisations. A key priority for 2007 will be to increase the number of women participants to our courses to address the decline experienced in 2006. Efforts will also be made to strengthen the team spirit at the centre by implementing the agreed actions after the centre-wide team building exercises conducted last year.

The MS Democracy Focus
MS has decided to focus on democracy inorder to strengthern our relevance in the sphere of international development and improve the quality of our engagements. The MS Board in Denmark has approved what the democracy focus involves;
The Democracy Focus is first and foremost a strategic focus, which enables us to:
- Develop core competencies and facilitate processes of learning within and across country and regional programmes.
- Attract funding from donors that wish to support our particular focus area and give us a clear identification point for supporters in Denmark.
- Give us a clear point of reference in our advocacy work in Denmark and Globally.
Democracy means to fight injustice, marginalisation and poverty
To MS Democracy is - representative democracy and good governance
- a way of life
