Theme “Unlocking Youth Leadership Potential: Youth at the Centre of the East African Integration”

The East Africa Youth Leadership Summit (YouLead17) is a cross-border annual event organized by MS TCDC in partnership with other stakeholders such as the East African Community Secretariat and its partners. For the third round now, the summit will be hosted at MS TCDC campus with youth leaders from all 5 EAC member countries – Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and South Sudan. The event will start on Monday 27th November and end on Friday 1st December 2017. YouLead17 is an experiential learning space and networking hotspot where young leaders will meet together, learn from one another, share experiences and bring forward fresh ideas on how young minds can effectively participate in leadership and development processes across business, government and the non-profit sectors. Participants will be change makers from business, government/politics and civil society leaders, policy makers, thought-provoking young academics, daring social entrepreneurs, media house representatives, CEOs of youth led businesses and organizations, legal advocates, and other inspirational practitioners.

Previously, MS Training Center for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) has organized two remarkable events; the Youth Governance Festival (YGF2014) and the Regional Youth Seminar (RYS2016) respectively. This year’s East Africa youth leadership Summit (YouLead17) will gather over 200 young minds, among them influential leaders from across the East African region and beyond who will come up together for a sole purpose of sharing ideas, charting way forward on issues important to youth in leadership, and appreciating their role and position as present and future leaders - the role played by youth in society.

Among others, topics to be covered at the summit include youth in Civic leadership and Social Development, Governance and Public Sector Management – politics, Business Development, Social Entrepreneurship innovations and Technology. These will be covered through different activities such as Workshops, Presentations, exhibitions and product/service display, Symposium,, Roundtable Discussions & Talk shows, Excursions/Tour to different parks, Cultural Night (Gala dinner and exhibition) and Health Check & Blood Donation Campaign. Innovators who would like to exhibit/display their products and services or share their achievements and experiences are encouraged to get in touch in time to discuss arrangement for space at the summit grounds.

Applications for the aspirant participants will open today – all interested youth are invited to apply to participate in this remarkable life-changing event.   MS TCDC has offered a full board scholarship to selected participants – the scholarship covers meals, accommodation and all conference expenses.  Unfortunately, we are not able to cover travel costs for participants. Selected participants are encouraged to cover their own transport and pocket money. Application for the summit is through MS TCDC website at We also welcome other partners with interest in advancing youth agenda in East Africa to join hands with in making this event successful as we launch #YouLead17.
