The East Africa Youth Leadership Summit (YouLead) 2018 edition is here.

Intro: 
This year’s East Africa’s biggest youth gathering recognized by the EAC is set to kick off from 19th November in Arusha.

YouLead summit was Organized since 2017 by MS-Training Centre for Development Cooperation, the East African Community (EAC) Political Affairs Department and YMCA Africa Alliance with the participation of other partners, the East Africa Youth Leadership Summit (YouLead) is East Africa’s biggest youth gathering recognized by the EAC in line with the provisions of the EAC Youth Policy (2016) priority 14 which mandates the EAC Secretariat to build networks and partnerships to, ‘Institute an Annual Youth Leaders’ Forum with the EAC Secretary General as a regional platform for youth engagement with the EAC leadership. In 2017 YouLead summit brought together approximately 250 youth leaders and supporters within government, NGO and business organizations from across the East African region.

Consequently, in 2018 MSTCDC and EAC plan to hold a similar summit of a higher quality from 19th -23rd November 2018, themed: “Youth Political & Economic Inclusion: Scenarios for Sustainable Regional Integration.” Which among other issues will feature youth perspectives:

  • Youth participation and representation in political governance and leadership,
  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
  • Tax Justice and Taxation for Development,
  • Corruption,
  • Youth in Innovation,
  • Technology and the Future of work,
  • Youth Employment,
  • Economic Opportunities and Descent Work for Youth,
  • Entrepreneurship,
  • Youth in Agriculture,
  • Youth and Health Rights,
  • Youth demographics and Migration and Youth in Education as sub- themes.

The 2018 YouLead summit will target youth leaders and youth aged between 18-35, including the unreached and those living with disability from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Ethiopia, and South Sudan as primary beneficiaries. Delegates will come from State and non-state stakeholders working on youth and futures. A very experienced and passionate committee has dedicated their expertise to steer the 2018 YouLead summit.
