Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will have acquired skills that will enable them to influence public policies effectively, and to design and implement advocacy strategies and campaigns.

• Public policy and civic engagement
• Rights based approach to development
• Advocacy tools: research; lobbying communication; coalition building and monitoring
• Developing an advocacy strategy
• Using media in advocacy and campaigning
• Evaluation of advocacy strategies
• Organisation capacity building for advocacy

Practitioners working in civil society organisations, government and other development agencies who are interested in building their capacity for public policy analysis and advocacy work.
