Course Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will understand key issues, concepts, appreciate the skills and resources required in accountability work and be able to formulate plans and advise their organisations on approaches and strategies for promoting accountability at both national and local levels in the pursuit of greater accountability in governance.

• Key relationships: power, accountability, citizenship and participation

• Democracy audit and quality of governance

• Personal accountability – practicing what you preach

• Linking practice to policy, and the local with the national level

• Practitioner competency: putting theory into practice, approaches, methods, and tools

• Developing intervention strategies for holding organisations and institutions accountable
