By the end of the course participants will have the knowledge and skills needed to set up social enterprises. Participants will learn how to generate innovative and economically sustainable business solutions by an asset based approach that engage local community in solving social problems. Participants will be confident in addressing social problems and poverty reduction in their own communities through social economic development and employment creation.
• Introduction to social economy, solidarity concepts and the entrepreneurial framework
• Change agents & social entrepreneurs – what does it take to be a community team player, and to organize and stimulate social change?
• Evaluation and identification of social challenges and potential resources in your local community.
• Determining business feasibility – getting and formulating social economic ideas, testing and growing them in the community
• Strategic business planning – formulating a business plan that ensures sustainable value for organization as well as community
• Marketing and advocacy – knowing the product and communicating the idea
• Where to get support – micro finance, entrepreneurial networks, sector basket funds and other resource pools.
